Melrose Mansion
History
The Melrose Mansion has a Victorian Gothic style designed by noted architect James Freret in 1884 and built for the Lanaux Family. The mansion was once owned by notorious New Orleans club owner Sol Owens who used the building to house the girls in his conga line.
The mansion has just completed 100% renovations of all suites as of September 2011. We are also under new management as of August 2011. Our team here at the Melrose Mansion is dedicated to ensuring that all of our guests have an unforgettable experience on their trip to New Orleans.
Each suite has completely new marble bathrooms and brand new 300 thread count linens. Restored to reflect the original grandeur of the stately home, Sidney Torres IV designed and supervised the entire project.
